Here is our take on Star Wars: Tales of the Empire 🚀 [spoiler free since 100 BBY] If you liked Tales of the Jedi, you will probably want to check out Lucasfilm Animation’s second Star Wars anthology Tales of the Empire, but arguably it is not on the same level. As this miniseries is divided down the middle between Morgan Elsbeth and Barriss Offee, we will do them separately. The first one helped establish a little more, how Morgan ended up on that planet with the burned forests surrounding the gripped town we have seen in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian and in making a connection between her and the Empire for future Ahsoka references. Aside from the obvious issue of doing an episodic segment about a rather little known character in the Star Wars universe with a very specific known endpoint in the future, it was all just alright and maybe a little lackluster. On the other hand, more Dathomir with some four-handed mechanical action, please. The latter was the better of the bunch, and made an interesting connection with Star Wars: Rebels and Kenobi regarding Inquisitors - the takeaway is that they would definitely look good on the cover of a heavy metal band. For everything else, the last three episodes go more into the inner workings of the Jedi mentality, and offer a fleshed out conclusion to the story of Barriss, who is now beyond the slightly annoying personality to remember from The Clone Wars series. While there was nothing wrong in terms of production quality, it is easy to feel that Tales of the Empire ended just as everything got going, and could have had a little more content or subject matter. And considering the titanic shadow of the Empire, there are definitely even B-list characters, who could have had more impact. Like the Grand Inquisitor - how does one fall from grace to go from a Jedi Temple Guard to Lars Ulrich from Metallica?
